At the 2018 AGM five Motions relating to the Club Rules - our governing Constitution - were put to the members and each was unanimously accepted. The final decision, though, rests with the Office of Fair trading within the Attorney-General’s Department and no change could be enacted without that authority.
I want you to know that we received the letter of acceptance from the Office of Fair Trading last week. They did not require any re-writes, clarifications or deletions. Your Club has a more effective operating system as of the Committee meeting this week.
I have sought permission from Vice-President/General Secretary Lisa Price to send this to you because I want to acknowledge the amazingly thorough efforts of two people. First in both time order and workload is David Rosenberg who Chaired a Committee of Review back in 2013 and proposed some amendments in his Report. David then detailed both the changes which his committee thought necessary, used the Office of Fair Trade templates and created the five Motions for the Annual General Meeting. It is fair to say that without his attention to detail and his clear explanations, none of this would have happened.
Then there is Lisa Price, the then-General Secretary who, after the AGM, had to negotiate with the Office of Fair Trade, pay the money, label each proposed change against the existing Sections and push a government organisation for a decision!
please Read the changes Rules for yourself - as well as the authorising letter - on the Club’s website.
