There and back again!
24th February 2019
There and back again!!!
We thank David and Astrid for this run, and wish them all the best as they leave the Gold Coast region to move north.
The first Gold Coast Chapter run for 2019 has something for everyone.
For the car – It can bask in the admiring looks it receives from passers by (or are those for the driver?)
It can display its unique cornering and fancy footwork (roadholding) skills (driver again?)
It can emit loud zoom, zoom sounds (or was that the navigator when the drivers unique cornering skills were lacking?)
For the driver - all of the above as well as the pleasure of driving his/her mean machine.
An opportunity to show off his/her driving skills on hilly, bendy roads.
Always the opportunity to tell tall tales to his peers
For the navigator – a well thought out and well written run sheet.
And when you have the driver settled there is some lovely scenery to admire.
And then something different – After morning tea - the cars organise themselves into two groups:-
Those who appreciate fine engines - will visit a Tamborine Mountain local to see his collection of fine engines lovingly restored and in working order. The collection includes a Spitfire Merlin engine, a fully restored 1933 Rolls Royce, a Griffin and many more.
Those not particularly interested in engines and who prefer fine wine and fine art – will visit a local winery for some fine wine tasting and/or a visit to a glow worm cave (a fee applies) and/or visit the Hamblin art gallery (by arrangement)
The two groups will join up again at around 12:30pm for lunch at the Cedar Creek Winery,
So as you see there is something for everyone … Enjoy
