Rapid Rundown - April 2025

Mark Spits - President | Published on 4/30/2025

As my first calendar month as President of the Mazda MX-5 Club of QLD winds down it has been a major learning curve. I would like to thank those that personally reached out to me following the committee meeting where I was elected to the president role. My aim this year is to use my time as president to add value to your membership. The club has a lot to offer its members but we as a committee need to communicate better. This club and the decisions that the committee makes should put members first and foremost. I hope to attend more runs in the future but as most of our retired members we travel a bit. For example, I am writing this from beautiful Lennox Heads NSW.

For those that don’t know me I currently reside on the Sunshine Coast after joining the club in Brisbane. The Boss, Meredith, and I have a 2017 ND RF LE with all the good bits from the factory that took me 6 months to find when I decided we needed a MX-5 in 2020.

April has now finished with the usual runs and social gatherings plus NotMeet 2025 and several motorsport chapter events.

With Easter and several long weekends adding to the clutter. It also seemed to be the time for family get togethers.

I would encourage those that don’t yet have the club facebook page to get on board as Trevor and Helen Dixon posted lots of photos and details from NotMeet. Thanks Guys.

The link to the page is. facebook.com/groups/581219202963851/ MX-5 Car Club QLD - members only

This facebook page also lists events that may be of interest to club members such as the Roadster Nakama MX-5 Club organised event in Aspley on 5th May or other Coffee and Cars events all around the areas that the club operates.

Thanks to Denise Peck and the other admins for your great work on the page.

For the motorsport inclined the club has been involved in several events in April including a GEAR day at Morgan Park and an ICC navigation event. I would encourage anyone who has an interest in testing there skills or there cars to get involved in the motorsport side of the club. May has a further 3 motorsport events.

I would encourage all members to look at the calendar on the website and plan for a big month of events.

The club is jointly organising the Mac's Bridge classic car and aircraft festival at the Caboolture Aero Club on 6th July. We are seeking volunteers for the set up of the event on the Friday and Saturday before the event and for carpark attendants on the day. If you can help out please go to the event on the calendar page and register.

I hope to see you all out at the runs in May. Stay safe.
