Committee Changes
Mark Spits - President | Published on 4/14/2025
On Saturday 12th April 2025 the committee of the MX-5 Club held a meeting in Brisbane. At this meeting the president, Ura Auckland, resigned his position on the committee.
Ura Auckland has made the decision to step down from his role as Club President. Not yet being retired, Ura is navigating some unanticipated evolution in his personal, business and professional lives. This is necessarily prompting a reallocation of his finite time and attention. He remains a proud club member and looks forward to joining runs again when ‘Beastie’ is once again on the road, and as time allows.
As the club rules dictate the next president has to be nominated from the current committee, I was fortunate enough to be nominated and elected.
I will still be doing the duties of my previous role as Vice President, as well as completing the duties of the Mazda MX-5 Club of Qld president.
I would like to thank the committee members for entrusting me with this very important role.
For those that don't know me, a quick bio: I and my wife Meredith have been members since 2020 after converting our trial membership with the Brisbane chapter. We moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2021 and have been active in planning runs and assisting the chapter leaders since then. We were presented with the Encouragement Award in 2022. I was elected to the role of Vice President in 2024. We have attended runs with all 4 chapters as well as Not Meet 2023, Nat Meet 2024 in Toowoomba and the Yamba run in 2023.
We, as a committee have some challenges this year, but our focus will be to ensure that you, the members, are provided with the best experience and best value for money from the club.
I look forward to working, for you the members, on the club committee.
Regards,
Mark Spits
President
Mazda MX-5 Club QLD.
