Rapid Rundown - February 2026
Hello dear members.
I am very pleased to advise that the Office of Fair Trading has approved the Rules Of the Mazda MX-5 Club of Qld Inc. (Model Rules) as proposed to, and adopted by, the members at the Special General Meeting of the Mazda MX-5 Club of Qld Inc. on 18 February 2026.
To view the new rules go to the "About Us" page of the club website, then go to "Rules & By-Laws" and click on the "MX-5 Club QLD Rules 26 Feb 2026" button. You will need to login to view. The membership criteria are in a table on the last page of the rules. Note that all financial members now have voting rights. Associate membership is available if you relinquish your MX-5 ownership and wish to remain with the club and enjoy everything it offers. There is also no requirement for you to hold a driver licence to retain your membership.
The By-Laws will be reviewed in due course and presented at the 2026 Annual General Meeting.
We have 40 members in 22 cars attending NatMeet XVI in the Cessnock area in early May 2026. Over 100 MX-5s are registered to attend. Excitement will be starting to build with those people and an outline plan has been developed by Henri van Roden for those interested in a group drive to the event. More information will be sent to attendees once everyone has responded to Henri as he requested. Registration for NatMeet XVI is now closed.
Round 1 of the Inter Club Challenge (ICC) was an autocross hosted by the Lotus Club Qld at Lakeside on 15 February 2026. Your club achieved second place thanks to an excellent performance by the club members who competed. Stand out performance was by Peter Cox, driving his 1990 NA, was placed first in cars 25+ years old, second outright and second in road registered. We're hoping to put more pressure on the other clubs at Round 2 which is the go-kart event hosted by our club on 18 April 2026.
We still don’t have a Gold Coast region Chapter Leader. I implore members in the Gold Coast region to seriously consider taking on the role. It does not have to be one member. Why not put two or three heads together and share the coordination duties? The management committee will provide you with all the help we can muster and I’m certain that members in the area will be in full support.
Don't forget to join the new (Official) members only Facebook group at this link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/mx5clubqld Entry is not automatic. You must answer the three membership questions and you must agree to the rules or your application will be declined.
I hope to see you out at an event soon.
Keep zooming.
